The words summertime conjurors up a lot of memories. Songs with the word “summer” pop into my head and I start to sing away. As I get older I think of a lot of places I want to add to my Bucket List. Then I think of family vacations places which are some must sees! Grab a tall glass of iced tea or lemonade and come with me on a virtual vay-ca.
A great sea shell experience is in Southwest Florida at Sanibel & Captiva Islands. Tons and tons of these beauties wash up on shore, so you can grab a bucket and collect until your heart is content! Plus the water is shallow all the time so it’s great pickings while strolling along the water with the sand between your toes. You can even look out at the water and watch for dolphins which are right off shore! Learn more
Mesa Verde in Southwestern Colorado has some of the best-preserved ancient Pueblo dwellings in sandstone cliffs! Park rangers lead you up several narrow wooden ladders into Cliff Palace, Long House, or Balcony House where you can stay the night! Check out more info here!
With my children and grandson very into baseball right now I could not forget to mention the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, New York! You pick up a Discovery Tour scavenger hunt as you enter where your children can solve clues as they go through the interactive exhibits and artifacts, and they even get a small gift for turning it in! I cannot even finish out this post without listing my most favorite place to go – a place where dreams come true – Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida! This place is so special to me that I am an annual passholder, and it is a must see for you and your family! Walt Disney World consists of four parks:
- Magic Kingdom Park – Where you celebrate a world of fantasy filled with lands of timeless fun. Learn more
- Epcot – Where you will discover worlds of wonder and the power of imagination. Learn More
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Where you celebrate action, glamour and thrills of Hollywood at it’s best. Learn more
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Where you can set off on an incredible adventure into the wilds of Disney. Learn more
And two water parks:
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach – Zip down the slushy slopes of Mount Gushmore on one of the world’s tallest and fastest waterslides. Float down the tranquil river and sunbathe on the white-sand beach. Learn more
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon – Snorkel with sharks, stingrays and tropical fish in the coral reef. Plunge down rushing rapids, sunbathe on the sandy beach and glide down the lazy river on a relaxing raft ride. Learn more
